(norwegian)

“En egenartet, estetisk og ofte bevegende opplevelse”

Jazznytt, Norge

"Solid debut i krevende terreng.....Med Snekkestads intense, mikrotonale lydmalerier –

ABOUT this Record:

"Over the years, Snekkestad has explored vast areas of music in a conscious and

open-minded way. Exemplary projects within music of the baroque, contemporary music,

rock, folk music and freejazz/improv. make up his diverse musical curriculum, and with

Conic Folded, these threads are united on a focused, virtuosic and original musical journey.

With advanced playing techniques, intuitive improvisations, refined compositional

use of structure, tone and form and a distinct poetic ear, Snekkestad earns himself a place

in the unbroken line of groundbreaking Norwegian saxophonists.

Conic Folded expresses intense, edgy sound and challenges the limits of

new jazz and contemporary music.

The album is released on ILK Records, the Copenhagen based indie record collective founded

in 2001 by a group of young, innovative performers on the city’s vibrant scene, and

Conic Folded is a primary example of the label’s groundbreaking aspirations.

It is the ILK debut for Snekkestad, whose Norwegian roots and Copenhagen base

form the starting point for his continuous, startling efforts to expand musical territory."

The Living Room (Snekkestad, Strønen, Kjærgaard)

first album is out !

Still Distant Still is the significant debut album from this exciting new trio formed by the Norwegian saxophonist
Torben Snekkestad. Consisting of some of the most promising musicians from the contemporary Nordic music  scene, The Living Room converges various sounds and styles of play into a sonically vibrant field: A common ground shared by their curiosity to explore and expand the disciplines of both conventional and unconventional
instrumental approaches. Already headlined on a series of remarkable recordings and performances with artists such as Christian Fennesz, Barry Guy, Andrew Cyrille, John Taylor and Koichi Makigami, The Living Room members have each marked their
original presence and place on the international music scene. As a collective they form an interlocking unit on this recording done in the legendary Rainbow Studios in Oslo.
Moving effortlessly within compositional frameworks and leaping off into open improvs, the three like-minded
musicians unfold a unique sonic space, creatively, enlivening the living room
